What is Phallograft® — and how does it work?

Phallograft® is a specially developed tissue matrix made of body-identical material — manufactured in Germany (Made in Germany) and specifically designed for penis thickening. The material is not recognized by the body as foreign, which minimizes the risk of rejection reactions.

The implant is inserted under the penis skin via the circumcision access and wraps around the erectile bodies like a structure-providing sheath. In the months following the procedure, the matrix gradually transforms into the body's own tissue — creating permanently more volume that feels and behaves naturally.

Special indication: The blood penis

A key advantage of Phallograft® over other thickening methods is its effect on the so-called blood penis — a term for a penis that shows hardly any volume in the flaccid state but swells to normal size during erection.

While body fat or hyaluronic acid cannot stabilize the flaccid size, the Phallograft® matrix wraps around the erectile body in a structure-providing manner. The result: The penis no longer retracts as strongly — the non-erect length and thickness are permanently stabilized. For men with a pronounced blood penis, Phallograft® is therefore often the superior choice.

The circumcision access: What does that mean in practice?

The Phallograft® is inserted via the circumcision access — this is the anatomically most favorable way to introduce the matrix under the penis skin. This results in a practical requirement:

Patients who are already circumcised can have the Phallograft® operation performed directly
Patients who are not yet circumcised sensibly have the circumcision performed in the same procedure
The combination of both procedures in one short-duration anesthesia is the common and recommended option

After the operation, a wound remains only in the circumcision area, which heals after approx. 2–3 weeks. The sutures dissolve on their own. No further wounds or scars occur on the penis shaft itself.

Frequently asked questions about Phallograft®

Do I have to be circumcised to have Phallograft® performed?

Yes — the Phallograft® is inserted via the circumcision access. If you are not yet circumcised, the circumcision can sensibly be performed in the same procedure and under the same anesthesia. This is the most common and recommended combination.

Is Phallograft® a permanent foreign implant?

Not in the classic sense. The Phallograft® matrix consists of body-identical material that is not recognized by the body as a foreign body and gradually transforms into the body's own tissue over the course of months. The result is permanent body's own volume — without a classic permanent silicone implant.

Why is Phallograft® particularly suitable for a blood penis?

A blood penis shows hardly any volume in the flaccid state but swells to normal size during erection. Since the Phallograft® matrix is placed around the erectile body in a structure-providing manner, it also stabilizes the non-erect size — the penis no longer retracts as strongly. Body fat or hyaluronic acid do not offer this stabilization effect in this form.

How long is the downtime after the surgery?

Office work is usually possible again after 3–5 days. For physical work, expect 10–14 days of rest. The circumcision wound heals within approx. 2–3 weeks. Sexual activity is possible again immediately after complete wound healing.

Which aftercare rules do I have to follow?

Compared to penis thickening with body fat, the aftercare rules for Phallograft® are significantly less complicated. There are no strict 8-week rules regarding nicotine, pressure, or temperatures. You will receive specific recommendations from Dr. Spanholtz after the procedure — these depend on your individual healing progress.
